Autopac Rebate Cheques

Manitoba Public Insurance(MPI) have announced that Autopac policyholders will receive a premium rebate. Cheques will be mailed by the end of May 2007 to customers who paid basic Autopac premiums for the 2005-2006 insurance year. The cheques will be for ten percent of the net premium each customer paid for basic coverage between March 1, 2005 and February 28, 2006.

For three out of four Manitobans this is a second bonus because when they renew their insurance during the 2007- 2008 year they will find that their rate is lower than the previous year.

Check the MPI web site for more information.

Identity Theft

Manitoba insurance companies have recognized the very real threat of identity theft and are now including coverage in the home insurance packages. In some cases there is a slight additional premium for this coverage where the coverage is optional.

While details vary between companies, Wawanesa have identified “Identity fraud” as the act of using, without lawful authority, your identifying information, to commit any unlawful activity that constitutes a crime or violation of any federal, provincial, territorial, municipal or local law. Wawanesa provides $ 10,000 of insurance for this type loss if it covered under their wordings.
